A Postcard for the Flying Yankee
Upon hearing the news that the Flying Yankee had been purchased with plans to restore it, we thought it'd be fun to send the train a postcard.
This was also a bit of a prototype for some other projects we'd like to do in the future so we thought it a good ocassion to test some things out. I traced an aerial photo of the MSI and Ray digitally painted it to look like a watercolor. They even changed it to be an autumn scene since we'd be sending this postcard in late October of 2024 (the source photo was taken in spring). To finish it off, we borrowed the signature for Pioneer used on the 10th anniversary birthday letter, which turned out to be hand lettered and so needed to be cleaned up and digitized first. Now we have a nice vector of that should we need it in the future. Ray's going to design a signature for Pilot to match.
We did make the small error of calling it the Conway Scenic Museum rather than its rightful name of Conway Scenic Railroad. We also sent them a donation though so we expect they'll choose to find that charming.
